The Rocks was established shortly after European settlement in 1788. The name ('The Rocks') is derived from the original buildings in the area which were constructed of local sandstone. We went to the Rock's market which Catherine recommended. The merchandise found at the Rock's market are artistic and unique, and are different from the cheaper varieties found in Paddy's and the market. We had lunch while watching the activity around the market. |

We went to an Italian restaurant in front of the market, ate pizza and
beer, and had a break.. Crown Lager beer is one of the most popular local beers in Sydney. but we ordered Cascade Premium Lager which Catherine recommended (there is a picture of Tasmanian tiger on the label). It is a very delicious beer and we both love it. The picture of on the right is an old rider with 2 pretty ladies. Oh! Behind him, a girl is eating corn on the cob which was popular for children. |

This is not the Rock's area. It is a famous Victorian building called the "Queen Victoria Building"which is a shopping centre. It is in the city centre. This luxurious looking christmas tree was made by Swarvoski. |
This is an old pearl shop called "Paspaley Pearls" built in 1930. It looked like a law court or police station. |
