9.Blue Mountains and Leura

We woke at 5:00 am on the 31st December 2009. Unfortunately it was raining.
The rainfall in the Blue Mountains was fortunate because it put out the bush fire occurring in the area before we arrived.

Most(90%) of the trees in the Blue Mountain are eucalyptus.
During summer when it is warm, the leaves of the eucalyptus emit oil which are highly flammable and can start a bush fire.

The vaporised eucalyptus oil in the air for this reason can make the scenery in the Blue Mountains like blurry.

A tour guide said to us" It will not rain because it rained earlier".
But during the tour, the weather changed drastically : it rained, and then stopped before it became sunny again.

Blue mountain coverd by fog(31st December 2009)
There is a firm net on the roof so that we do not fall out.
When we arrived in Sydney it was fine. Why did it have to be rain the next day?
I was so disappointed that it was raining the next day.
The famous railway in scenic world is in the Gyness Book of Records for being the steepest railway in the world.
At first I thought it was very easy, but when it departed, I felt my body almost fall out.
We could not see anything (like the three sisters), because of the fog.. There were big white parrots on the tree. It has a yellow crest which looks like a hat.
It's cry was noisy.
The cable car and skyway's fee is A$28(2500 yen).
Because it was crowded there were few tourists.
If it is possible, I wanted to change the another day.

Walking of the town Leura(31st December 2009)
The town 'Leura' was called "Garden village". There were a lot of flowers and trees in the town.
There are cherry trees planted in the middle of the main street. In October, the cherry blossoms become in full bloom. During autumn, many people enjoy looking at the autumn leaves.

But it was raining heavily that day. We waited in the shop for rain to stop..
This is a map of Leura.
Though it was a small town, there were many shops: stationers, candle shops, candy stores, antique shops, and kitchen supply shops. Everyone was taking a walk.
Slightly a view of Blue Mountain by megaron valley(31st December 2009)
We were able to have a slight view of Blue Mountain from Megalong valley.
It seemed that view is light blue.
